Poor Charlotte’s Books is a cozy environment with all of the love stories that Charlotte would have loved reading because romance makes life better.
About Our Name
“Charlotte alone she was sure of. Charlotte whose exterior concealed so much insight and love.”
Our store honors Charlotte Bartlett, the socially awkward chaperone in the 1908 novel A Room with a View. Charlotte spends the entire story in a constant state of anxiety while secretly dying for a little fun. We think Charlotte deserves better; in fact, we think we all deserve better.
Our shelves are stacked with the happily-ever-afters poor Charlotte never got - be they sweet, spicy, morally gray and everything in between. At Poor Charlotte’s we create a space where readers can be themselves.
We are a women owned and operated romance forward bookstore serving Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati.

My favorite romance genres are historical and contemporary.
If I’m not reading romance I’m reading narrative nonfiction and memoirs 🤓and literary fiction.
My favorite tropes are forced proximity, enemies to lovers and slow burn! And he falls first!
One of my comfort reads is Kulti by Mariana Zapata - listening to this book on repeat got me through Covid Lockdown as I walked and walked and walked around my neighborhood.
I wish I could read Reel by Kennedy Ryan again for the first time. This book delivered on so many levels - such a big emotional story between a Hollywood director and the unknown star in his new film. Conflict is handled with maturity and reason. Such an incredible book and such a propelling read the first time around.
If I could be platonic roommates with a romance character I would live with Rhys from Marrying Winterborne! He would bring home lots of goodies from his store, he's super kind and he's got a Welsh accent. I would also happily room with Jamie Fraser from Outlander - he's tall so he can reach things and he likes animals so he'd get along well with my dog.

Favorite romance genre is romantasy and anything LGBT.
If I’m not reading romance I’m reading fantasy!
My comfort read is Delilah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake.
My favorite tropes are fake dating, forced proximity / one bed, grumpy sunshine, enemies to lovers, slow burn. So many tropes!
A romance that just delighted me was On the Same Page by Haley Cass - it was a really fun read!
My favorite rom-com movie is When Harry Met Sally because Meg Ryan 😂 Everything about the movie just brings me joy.. And I think I identify a lot with Sally - a girl who knows exactly what she wants and isn’t afraid to say so!

My favorite romance genre is romantasy.
If I’m not reading romance I’m reading fantasy!
My comfort read is One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig.
My favorite tropes are fake relationship, enemies to lovers, love triangle, slow burn, forced proximity! There’s so many it’s so hard to choose. Literally all the tropes give me all of them! 😂😂
If I had a character from a romance as a platonic roommate I would want to be roommates with Danika Fendyr from Crescent City (before the bad things that happen🫣) because she’s a total baddie, sounds like a GREAT time, and her friend group seems like a super fun one to be apart of :)
If I could experience reading a book again for the first time I would read . . . is it SO basic if I say the ACOTAR series😂😂?
